IFAD

Step into the world of Mariamo Fermino Bilasse as she builds her fishing business in Zalala, Mozambique. The IFAD-supported Artisanal Fisheries Promotion Project (ProPESCA) was implemented to improve the livelihoods of artisanal fishers and their communities living along Mozambique’s coastline. In operation from 2010 to 2019, the project covered all seven coastal provinces and reached more than 55,000 households. Project activities supported the development of higher value fish, improved economic infrastructure, created financial services, strengthened institutions and improved nutrition.

As an extension of this project, we also worked with IFAD to create a visual social campaign surrounding the 360/VR video of Mariamo, aiming to raise awareness on #InvestingInRuralWomen. The campaign also included the creation of an interactive 360 website which enables the viewer to follow Mariamo and her blossoming fishing business. It also showcases the picturesque seaside landscape of Zalala!
