About

The future feels uncertain. The climate is changing. But across continents, a new generation is already in motion — Generation Trust follows five young climate leaders rebuilding food, energy, mobility, and education systems from the ground up.

The film moves beyond statistics to explore what climate action actually feels like: courage, doubt, collaboration, burnout, and persistence. These stories are not framed as isolated hero narratives, but as part of a growing global movement — one that asks a critical question: what becomes possible when young leaders are not just visible, but truly trusted and supported? Because the future is not waiting to be negotiated — it is already being built, and it is asking us to trust it.

Youth4Climate is an initiative co-led by the United Nations Development Programme and the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, created to put young people at the centre of climate action — turning their ideas into funded, youth-led solutions on the ground.

A tight close-up of a Black man with dreadlocks gazing upward, his face partially lit against a dark, shadowy background. The dramatic lighting gives the shot a deeply introspective, cinematic quality.
A South Asian family — an older man in a light blue shalwar kameez, a woman in an orange dupatta, and four young children in vibrant traditional dress — stand together outside a modest wooden home in a rural village. The documentary-style still captures the quiet dignity of everyday life.
A man rides a motorbike through a lush green landscape while a woman seated behind him holds a young baby and a woven basket. The motion-blurred background gives the cinematic still a sense of journey and everyday resilience.
A close-up profile of a young Black girl with braided hair and a colourful patterned top, gazing upward against a soft grey sky. The intimate cinematic framing conveys quiet contemplation and hope.
A young Black schoolboy in a white uniform turns to flash a wide, joyful smile at the camera inside a colourful classroom. Educational posters and maths charts line the walls behind him.
A group of laughing Latin American teenagers in school uniforms move energetically in front of a vibrant painted mural. The dynamic, motion-filled shot captures the joy and energy of youth.

Behind the Scenes

A young Latin American girl with long dark hair and a woven sash looks upward with quiet wonder, standing before a misty coastal horizon. The soft blue tones and open sky give the shot a serene, cinematic feel.
A woman's face floats just above the surface of still, grey-blue water, eyes closed in serene stillness. The extreme close-up and cool tones create a deeply atmospheric, meditative cinematic moment.
Two figures sit side by side on a mountain ridge, dwarfed by a vast, dramatic landscape of rugged Andean valleys stretching to the horizon. The wide shot conveys scale, solitude, and quiet connection.
A Black woman leans over the edge of a wooden boat on a wide river, laughing openly with raw, uninhibited joy. The warm, hazy light on the water behind her adds an intimate, documentary quality to the moment.
A young Black man in a white t-shirt and jeans stands confidently between colourful tuk-tuks on a busy urban street in Monrovia, Liberia. The vivid street scene behind him captures the energy and texture of city life.
A woman in a bright turquoise dress and pink hat sits alone on a mountain ridge, gazing out over a sweeping Andean valley under a vast blue sky. The wide cinematic frame emphasises her solitude against the immensity of the landscape.
